On Monday 19 June 2023, eighteen enthusiastic Burford School students ranging from Year 7 to Year 10 embarked on an exciting Writing Retreat to Cotswold Wildlife Park for a day filled with discovery, observation and inspiration.
Equipped with notebooks and pens, our students were encouraged to record their thoughts and ideas throughout the day. Prior to the trip, they had written down their expectations, and now, armed with their handy notes, they compared those initial impressions with the reality of the park.
After walking through Zone 1 and 2 and stopping for lunch, students enjoyed an informative talk on the classification of animals. The students' inquisitive nature shone as they eagerly participated, asking insightful questions and providing impressive answers too. Students finished the day walking through Zone 3 and 4, before returning to school.
The trip proved to be a resounding success with students, who left with new knowledge and valuable experiences to inform their future writing and creativity.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Cotswold Wildlife Park for their warm welcome and engaging educational activities.
