Welcome to the Burford School PTA.
We are a committed and dynamic group of staff, parent and carer volunteers who support Burford School by fundraising and managing social events and other projects to develop resources, which enrich the lives and experiences of all our students.
We are also passionate and vocal about encouraging and supporting an ever-growing sense of community, both within the school and between the school and its local, national and global community.
L-R: Treasurer, Jos Foulston; Chair, Olivia Pollard; Secretary, Zena Laing; and Vice Chair, Mark Steenhoff.
The Burford PTA officers for 2024-2025 are:
I am really keen to get some new ideas off the ground this year and to have a much more involved conversation with pupils, parents and carers and staff about how we can make the most difference with all of our hard work. I run my own business, doing biomechanics equestrian coaching and am involved or support as many community projects as I can, and have spent the last two years helping at PTA events.
Hi, I am Mark Steenhoff, new Vice Chair of the PTA. My daughter is in Year 8. I am an Engineering Headhunter and team dynamics coach by day. I joined the PTA to contribute to the school community, mainly at night! It's a great way to meet good people and add to the spirit of the school. I look forward to raising the PTA's impact and profile with fun events and facilitating greater interaction and connection.
I'm Jos Foulston, PTA Treasurer and Managing Director of a wholesale distribution group, which is part of a South African-based industrial holding company. My step-children attended Burford Sixth Form and left in the summer of 2023. I'm keen to support the school in developing its non-core resources for the benefit of its pupils, particularly for business, history and sports students.
I'm Zena Laing, I'm in my 5th year as School Receptionist and I have a son in Year 9. I've been a member of the PTA for four years as Secretary and enjoy the social aspect of the committee, such as working on the bar at events and running preloved sales. I'm also a member of the Burford School Institute of Music Community Choir.
You can support the PTA in several ways:
While our regular PTA meetings are fun and fast-paced, these are optional. Whether you can spare a couple of hours to help run the bar at a school concert or performance, source stock for a particular school experience, lend some technical expertise or organise an entire event altogether (with lots of support, of course), we would be delighted to hear from you.
If you can help the PTA or would like to find out more and share your ideas, please contact the PTA.
