At Burford School, our Learning Zone offers personalised learning to enable all our students to reach their full potential, supporting those who are More Able and Gifted, speak English as an Additional Language, are eligible for Pupil Premium funding and have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.
We provide students identified as More Able and Gifted with additional support and challenge them to achieve their potential.
We offer a range of trips, events and clubs that aim to stretch and promote their intellectual curiosity and open their eyes to the future pathways available to them, which correspond with their talents and interests.
For further information about our additional support and programme of events, trips and clubs for Sixth Form students, please visit our Sixth Form Enrichment section.
We provide additional support to students who speak English as an Additional Language, to ensure their progression within the curriculum and to prepare them for the workplace or further study after Burford School.
After a student undertakes testing to ascertain their degree of comprehension of English, we establish a targeted programme of support to develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
For students eligible for Pupil Premium we provide targeted curriculum support, to ensure their progression and to raise their achievement within their studies.
We support students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities to access the curriculum, providing a variety of adaptions to the curriculum and the learning environment depending on their individual circumstances and needs.
