Boarders live at Lenthall House, a handsome building next to the church, in the heart of Burford.
The building, the original Burford Grammar School, has been cleverly redeveloped to provide two cosy boarding houses, with a courtyard – at one time, the school’s playground – in the centre.
Boarders share comfortable bedrooms, for between two and six students. Rooms are attractively decorated with posters, photos and personal mementos. Snug common rooms with televisions and games; modern kitchens for independent cooking; an on-site gym; prep rooms with computers and printers; garden and a small orchard for outdoor activities all contribute to making the boarding houses a ‘home’ to come back to at the end of the day.
Year 7 and 8 students, who are new to boarding, live close to the residential house staff, so that full support can quickly be given should they experience some initial homesickness.
