We know that choosing what to do when you leave school can feel overwhelming and we offer advice and support to help you reach the right decision for you.
This process begins in Year 12 when we offer individual interviews with our Careers Leader. Whether you are looking at university, an apprenticeship or work, we can support you every step of the way.
If you decide not to apply to university, we will give you support with CV writing and mock interviews, as well as information about relevant local jobs, further education and training opportunities. We can provide targeted help with applications, together with references when required.
In the November of Year 12, you and your parents or carers are invited to an apprenticeship evening which covers everything from finding an apprenticeship opportunity to the application and interview process.
Most of our students make the decision to go on to university and we have a carefully planned programme of support to help with the application process.
In the summer term of Year 12, you and your parents or carers will be invited to a presentation, covering everything from choosing your course and university, writing your personal statement and information about student finance, as well as opportunities to hear from our former students.
During the application period (September to January of Year 13) tutors and the Head of Sixth Form will talk to you about your course and university choices, and work with you to draft your personal statements and complete the online application. Subject teachers and tutors will also write references. Additional support is provided to students that wish to apply to Oxbridge, including mock interviews. We also act as an exam centre for the admissions tests many Oxbridge courses require, and for the BMAT.
