At Key Stage Four, we offer Cambridge National Child Development as an option to students.
Through the study of this subject, students develop a broad knowledge and understanding of child development and growth from birth to the age of five. Students explore how children learn through play and how meeting the needs of individual children will support their development and learning.
Classroom teaching is complemented by guest speakers from local nurseries and healthcare organisations, which encourage robust discussion around the main developmental milestones of children under five and how certain activities can influence their development and learning.
For more information, please read our Key Stage Four Curriculum Choices booklet.
Ahead of exam season, we have a Year 11 Curriculum Support Timetable in place to further support students in reaching for their potential at GCSE.
Our Subject Lead for Child Development is Mrs Speakman.
