A casual reference and some detective work have resulted in two Old Burfordians, who had somehow slipped through the net, being added to our ever-growing International Honours Board list!
Brothers Lee (right in photo) and Matthew (left in photo) Evans both represented Great Britain at kickboxing in Malta in 1999 at the World Kickboxing Championships in the Under 18 category, and therefore deserve their place.
Lee joined Burford in Year 9 in 1996 and left in 2001 after A-Levels. While Matthew joined in Year 7 in 1997, also leaving after A-Levels in 2004.
Lee now lives in Sydney, Australia, and he and his wife Sophie are about to welcome their second child. Meanwhile, Matthew works in Chessington as a Marketing Manager.
The International Honours Board can be currently found in the foyer opposite the Headteacher’s office and features over 60 names across 27 different sports. However, since the board was produced for the school’s 450th anniversary in 2021, there are now 9 new names that need to be added.
A testament to the sporting achievements of our current and former students, we hope a new board will go up sometime in the new year.
Do you know an Old Burfordian who may not be on our International Honours Board?
Do get in touch with us at Alumni so their name can be added.
